Teaching / Course Evaluations Central Michigan University's institution wide course evaluation process is called the Student Opinion Survey (SOS). My average SOS scores have exceeded the University, College and Department averages in the past fifteen years with a score of 3.5/4.0. This includes all courses taught at CMU from a newly developed course or 1st time prep to graduate level courses. In addition to the SOS, I have often implemented my own course evaluation to more thoroughly understand the impact of specific course objectives, methodologies, and delivery. The SOS is limiting in this regard and other sources of obtaining feedback is often recommended. Spring 2004 Fall 2004 Spring 2005 Fall 2005 In 2002/2003, three faculty conducted a peer evaluation of my teaching knowledge, skills and abilities. They reviewed all course materials, sat in on class lectures, discussions, and activities and spoke with students enrolled in my courses. In addition, one class presentation was reviewed and critiqued by the Director of CMU's Faculty Center for Innovative Teaching (FaCIT). All reviews indicated a high level of teaching effectiveness.
