  Extension / University Service

Service to the University ranges from departmental, college, and global university activities.  My experiences have varied from serving on search committees to allocating internal grant dollars for worthy proposals.

In 2007 I am serving on a five person strategic planning committee to develop CMU's Faculty Center for Innovative Teaching.  We are conducting several market research studies in order to develop a comprehensive plan for CMU.  For the department, I am chairing both the Diversity and Global Initiatives Committee as well as the Marketing Committee.

In 2005 and 2006, I chaired the department's technology committee.  In this role, I write internal grants and for my two years (2005, 2006) in this position, I have accessed over $15,000 in technology monies for department use.

Additionally, in an effort to more fully integrate the tourism curriculum, I have served (as chair as well) of a group of faculty within the food service, hospitality, and recreation departments.  Our grass roots effort is to develop an interdisciplinary curriculum for the integration of our students, resources, expertise, etc.  This proposal has significant benefits for the industry, student, department and university.  All course syllabi have been written and current efforts are focused on completing the required concept paper.  The curriculum recognizes the needs of the industry and capitalizes on each areas assets.
